This webinar is designed for academic program leaders and educators who design curriculum or courses or teach in healthcare disciplines.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Apply an evidence-based structure and process for teaching population health analytics
  • Utilize an interdisciplinary approach in the analytic support for the population health process
  • Determine key competencies for population health analytics

Population Health Management (PHM) is a set of strategies and mechanisms, tailored to the unique characteristics and needs of populations, designed to optimize health status, patient experiences, cost, and utilization (The Triple Aim). PHM is an interdisciplinary, data-driven approach and is best supported by a structured analytics process driven by skilled, knowledgeable, and competent leaders. This analytic approach allows students to understand populations, including health outcomes, patterns of health drivers, and the policies and interventions that link these two. Clinicians, analysts, and business leaders work together in interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute population health analytic strategies. This session focuses on key components of population health analytics and the coursework needed to develop population health competencies for graduate students in the health sciences.
