Jeffery T. Walker, PhD-University of Alabama at Birmingham

Jeffery T. Walker, PhD, is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Justice Studies at University of Alabama at Birmingham. Previously he was a Professor of Criminal Justice and Criminology in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, where he worked for 19 years. Dr. Walker has written 6 books, over 50 journal articles and book chapters, 17 technical reports, and delivered over 80 professional papers and presentations. He has obtained over $9 million in grants from the Department of Justice, National Institute of Drug Abuse, and others. His areas of interest are social/environmental factors of crime and the study of non-linear dynamics as they relate to crime. Previous publications include articles in Justice Quarterly, Journal of Quantitative Criminology, and Journal of Criminal Justice Education, and the books Leading Cases in Law Enforcement, Seventh Edition, Myths in Crime and Justice, and the J&B textbook Statistics in Criminal Justice and Criminology: Analysis and Interpretation, Third Edition.


Sean Maddan, PhD-University of Tampa

Sean Maddan, PhD, is Chair and Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Tampa. His research areas include criminological theory, statistics, research methods, and the efficacy of sex offender registration and notification laws. Articles by Dr. Maddan have appeared in Justice Quarterly, Crime and Delinquency and the Journal of Criminal Justice. Most recently, Dr. Maddan has authored the book The Labeling of Sex Offenders and has co-authored the J&B textbook, Statistics in Criminology and Criminal Justice: Analysis and Interpretation, Third Edition.
