  • Although the book has the usual chapters covering the research process, it focuses on how to use the evidence. It is organized around the steps of the IDP model, which involves knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation. For example, the chapters in the unit on knowledge cover identifying research questions, finding sources of evidence, and linking theory, research, and practice. Ethical concepts are woven throughout the chapters. The information is provided in small bites to foster mastery of the content. The student online component includes animated flashcards, critical thinking questions, crossword puzzles, interactive glossary, journal articles with response grids, learning objectives, student quizzes, web links, and materials for applying what they have learned.

    This book should be very useful to the target audience, especially since the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) requires that nursing programs prepare baccalaureate nursing students with a basic understanding of the process of nursing research. The chapters are user friendly and are focused on student mastery of concepts.
