Health Care Provider CPR, Fourth Edition

Overview

This manual is developed for use within health care provider level CPR training courses offered through the Emergency Care & Safety Institute.

Based on the 2010 International Consensus Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC), Health Care Provider CPR, Fourth Edition is ideal for use within courses designed to certify health care providers in CPR and AED. More than a stand-alone text, this student manual is the center of an integrated teaching and learning system that offers many resources to better support instructors and prepare students. This manual includes:

  • Coverage of the 2010 CPR and ECC Guidelines: Clear, concise direction on how to perform CPR and use an AED during an emergency.
  • Skill Drills: Offer step-by-step explanations and visual summaries of important skills.
  • Emergency Care Wrap-Up Tables: Provide a concise summary of what signs first aiders should look for and what treatment steps they should take.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) provides education and practice management services for orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals. American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP)

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) exists to support quality emergency medical care and to promote the interests of emergency physicians. The Board of Directors has identified values that serve as the guiding principles for the specialty of emergency medicine. These values, and the objectives that follow, are the foundation of ACEP's planning processes and Council and Board actions. Stephen J. Rahm

Stephen J. Rahm, NREMT-P

Stephen J. Rahm began his career in EMS in 1985. He is a paramedic for a rural EMS system in South Central Texas. As an author, he has ten books published to his credit; he has served as a contributing author, reviewer, and consultant for numerous others. He is also a faculty member in the paramedic program at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. Rahm has presented at the Texas EMS Conference and the Military Joint Services EMS Symposium on various topics.  During his career in EMS, Mr. Rahm has worked for the U.S. Air Force in a Level I Trauma Center and has trained Combat Medics for the U.S. Army.
