His work ranges from classical elasticity, structural mechanics, vibrations and aerodynamics to the variational principles that form the foundations of modern finite element methods. They include some of the most significant contributions to these disciplines over the past sixty years. The papers in each section are arranged in chronological order and preceded by historical comments.
