Overview

Spanish for Nurses Pocket Guide includes basic phrases and vocabulary relating to parts of the body and symptoms as well as questions and answers related to hospital facilities and caring for clients in the hospital setting.  Cultural notes with helpful hints are highlighted in each chapter, with an introduction that gives general cultural concepts making this book useful for all nurses.  Spanish for Nurses contains a list of Spanish vocabulary words as well as a special glossary of “Spanglish” and border Spanish words and expressions in addition to such material in standard Spanish.  A concise guide to basic Spanish grammar is included to make this pocket guide extremely useful in the hospital setting and in the classroom.

Arthur Natella, PhD-American International College

Arthur Natella, Jr. received his B.A. from Columbia University and his Ph.D. from Syracuse University. He has taught at major colleges and universities throughout the country and abroad, and he is the author of four books, including “The Spanish in America (Oceana Books)” and “Business in Mexico” (Haworth Press), as well as numerous articles, reviews, and translations, which have appeared in the United States, Europe, and Latin America.

He is currently Chair of the Foreign Language Department of the American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts. He is also Adjunct Professor on the Criminal Justice Program at Western New England College. He lectures widely on the subjects of the Spanish language and cultural sensitivity.
