Manish A. Shah, MD-(Series Editor), Director of Gastrointestinal Oncology, Weill Cornell Medical College/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, New York, New York

Manish A. Shah, MD, is currently Medical Director of Gastrointestinal Oncology within the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology and the Center for Advanced Digestive Care at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. A summa cum laude graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Shah underwent his internship/residency at Duke University Medical Center and his fellowship in Medical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he served as Chief Fellow in Hematology/Oncology. A national and international thought leader in drug development and the treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies, Dr. Shah is a distinguished peer-review funded investigator and has led several Phase I, II, and III clinical trials in patients with solid tumors and advanced gastric cancer. He is also the Director of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Translational Research Laboratory at Weill Cornell Medical College. His areas of translational research interests are in improving our understanding of cancers of the upper GI tract as well as hereditary GI malignancies.

Dr. Shah specializes in the treatment and research of GI malignancies, with a particular interest in Upper Gastrointestinal Cancers. He is the recipient of several awards, including the ASCO Young Investigator and Career Development Awards and the CALGB Investigator Award. He is also author of numerous peer-reviewed articles in the biology and treatment of GI malignancies.
