William M. Manger, MD, PhD-National Hypertension Association/NYU Medical Center/Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York City, New York

Dr. Manger is a graduate of Yale University and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He served an internship and residency in medicine at Presbyterian Hospital in NYC and was a medical officer in the Navy for two years. He spent five years as a Fellow in Medicine at the Mayo Clinic where he won the Award for Meritorious Research; subsequently he was designated Distinguished Mayo Alumnus. Currently he is Chairman of the National Hypertension Association which he founded in 1977 and is Clinical Professor of Medicine at NYU Medical Center. He has written or co-authored five medical books, numerous chapters, and over 220 scientific publications, mostly on high blood pressure. He recently founded VITAL (Values Initiative Teaching About Lifestyle), an elementary school teaching program to combat obesity in children.
