Burke A. Cunha, M.D., is Chief, Infectious Disease Division at Winthrop-University Hospital, Mineola, New York, Professor of Medicine, State University of New York School of Medicine, Stony Brook, New York, and is one of the world's leading authorities on the treatment of infectious diseases. During his 30-year career, he has contributed more than 1000 articles, 175 book chapters, and 15 books on infectious diseases to the medical literature. He has received numerous teaching awards, serves on the editorial boards of more than two dozen medical journals, is Editor-in-Chief of Infectious Disease Practice and Antibiotics for Clinicians, and is a Master of the American College of Physicians, awarded for achievements as a master clinician and teacher.
