Dr. Mauk is a certified gerontological clinical nurse specialist and gerontological nurse practitioner, as well as a Hartford Geriatric Scholar and Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. With nearly 30 years of experience in rehabilitation and gerontology, she is the author or editor of six books and has contributed to numerous others. Her professional contributions have been recognized with several awards including: Associate of Rehabilitation Nurses’s (ARN) Educator Role Award (2007), Valparaiso University Caterpillar Award for Excellence in Teaching (2007), CASE/Carnegie Foundation Indiana Professor of the Year Award (2007), ARN’s Distinguished Service Award (2005), and two American Journal of Nursing (AJN) Book of the Year Awards (1999, 2010) for Gerontological Rehabilitation Nursing and Gerontological Nursing: Competencies for Care (second edition). Dr. Mauk is currently a Professor of Nursing at Colorado Christian University.
