John F. Borland, PhD-Department of Sport Management and Recreation, Springfield College

John F. Borland is an assistant professor in the Sport Management and Recreation Department at Springfield College in Springfield, MA. He teaches courses in event management, sport communications, facilities management, and budgeting and finance. His primary research interests are gender and race in sport, and sport as a means for social change and development of marginalized groups.

Dr. Borland was awarded a NASSM Research Grant to conduct research with Street Soccer, a national organization that provides soccer opportunities for the homeless in more than 20 cities. He has made multiple presentations at North American Society for Sport Management conference along with presentations at the ISDPA Power of Sport Summit.

Laura J. Burton is an associate professor of Sport Management in the Department of Educational Leadership in the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut. She teaches courses in management, event management, and sport psychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her research interests focus on the underrepresentation of minority groups in leadership positions within sport organizations and how organizational culture and leadership influence change processes within sport organizations. Dr. Burton serves on the editorial boards of the Sport Management Education Journal and Women in Sport and Physical Activity Journal.

Gregory M. Kane, PhD-Department of Health and Physical Education, Eastern Connecticut State University

Gregory M. Kane is an assistant professor in the Department of Health and Physical Education at Eastern Connecticut State University. Dr. Kane teaches courses in sport leadership and problem solving, research methodology in sport, and sociology of sport. His primary research areas are the psychosocial interactions and alerations with sport and physical activity.
